Strength Built for Athletes.

Sport-specific strength and conditioning programming with Ben Kessel, CSCS. 20 years of experience training athletes at every level, right here in Park Slope.

This Is Not A General Workout

Strength and conditioning programming at Priority Fitness is a different category of work from personal training. It is sport-science-driven, periodized, and built specifically for athletes who have a performance goal that demands more than a general fitness routine can deliver.

Ben Kessel holds a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist credential from the NSCA—the gold standard in sport performance certification—alongside over 20 years of hands-on experience training athletes at every level. He is the official Strength and Conditioning Coach of the Brooklyn Tri Club and has prepared athletes for Team USA competition, Ironman races, and everything in between. If you are serious about your sport, this is where that seriousness gets met.

Serious Programming.
Serious Coaches.

Our strength and conditioning coaches work with a selective roster by design. Every athlete gets a program built around their specific sport, their current training load, and their competition calendar, not a template pulled off a shelf. This is not a service you drop into. It's a coaching relationship built on data, trust, and consistent progress.

SPORT-SPECIFIC PROGRAMMING

Generic strength programs ignore what your sport actually demands from your body. Ben builds every program around the specific movement patterns, energy systems, and injury risks of your sport, whether that's triathlon, running, cycling, or something else entirely. You get stronger in the ways that matter for what you actually do.

PERIODIZED FOR YOUR RACE CALENDAR

Strength training that does not respect your race calendar works against you. Ben periodizes your programming around your season, building a strength base in the offseason, converting it to power as races approach, and managing load so you arrive at the start line ready to perform.

SPECIAL POPULATIONS

Not every athlete fits a standard training template, and Ben does not coach from one. He has 20 years of experience working with clients navigating chronic conditions, movement limitations, age-related changes, and complex health histories. The programming adapts to your reality, not the other way around. If you have been told your situation is too complicated for a strength program, that is exactly the kind of challenge Ben is built for.

RETURNING FROM INJURY

Strength and conditioning after an injury is not the same as general rehab, and it is not the same as training a healthy athlete. Ben's background in clinical biomechanics, built alongside his father's chiropractic practice and deepened through 20 years of coaching, means he understands how to build a program that respects your injury history, works around current limitations, and progressively rebuilds the strength and movement quality you need to compete again. Whether you are cleared to return to sport or still working toward that clearance, Ben has coached athletes through this process at every stage.
